What is RenewTech?
It is all in the name. RenewTech is a plan that covers maintenance and restoration of your car’s interior and exterior. Minor dents, scratches and chips on the outside are buffed out, resprayed and beautified. Small tears, scratches and scuffs on the inside are stitched up, smoothed out and spruced up. RenewTech gives your car the attention she deserves!
How do I benefit?
Interior maintenance
Centre console
Scratches and scuffs to the vehicle’s central console, only if the damage is less than 15 cm in length and less than 1 mm deep.
Dashboard
A scuff or a scratch less than 15 cm in length and less than 1 mm deep (excluding the airbag panel area).
Door handles
Only scratches or scuffs to plastic door grab handles will be resprayed. Chrome plated and leather finished door handles are excluded.
Door panel plastic
Scratches or scuffs less than 15 cm in length and less than 1 mm deep will be repaired and resprayed.
Gear knob
Only for restoring faded paint.
Gear lever boot
Tears or rips to the boot, but only if less than 5 cm.
Handbrake boot
Tears or rips to the boot, but only if less than 5 cm.
Head rest
Repairs to the cover that are less than 5 cm. If the exact fabric is not available, a suitable replacement fabric will be used. The benefit does not apply to guides and frames.
Parcel shelf and strings
To maintain and restore a damaged shelf only. The benefit does not apply to a broken frame.
Plastic panel repair
A scuff less than 15 cm in length and less than 1 mm deep. The benefit does not apply if the panel is broken or cracked.
Roof lining
Limited to one maintenance or restoration event per plan. If the existing roof lining becomes loose or starts to hang, this will only be repaired where possible. Replacement of the roof lining is excluded. The benefit does not apply to convertibles or vehicles with sunroofs.
Rubber carpet inserts
Applies only to the rubber heel mat on the driver’s side. If damaged, the driver’s side heel mat will be restored or replaced with a standard rubber insert. Loose mats and carpets are excluded.
Seat panel
For tears less than 5 cm and burn holes less than 1 cm. If the exact fabric is not available, a suitable replacement fabric will be used.
Seat stitch
Where the damage is repairable to seat stitches less than 7.5 cm.
Steering wheel respray
Respraying of leather steering wheels but excludes recovering of steering wheels.
Sun visors
Repairs to damaged sun visors.
Safety film
If your vehicle is fitted with safety film, the benefit provides maintenance and restoration for scratches, scuffs and tears caused by a sharp object or similar type damage only. If the exact colour is not available, a suitable replacement will be used.
Exterior maintenance
Light scratches
A scratch that is less than 15 cm in length and is less than 15 cm in diameter.
Minor dents
A dent that is less than 15 cm in diameter and where the panel has not been ripped, perforated, or torn.
Stone chips
A chipped area that may be filled and sealed to prevent corrosion.
Tar removal
Removes and restores tar spots and marks.
Windscreen damage
Maintenance and restoration of your vehicle’s windscreen, headlamps (excluding plastic lens), and related glass components in case of repairable chips only. If the windscreen cracks during the repair process, you will be responsible for the replacement costs of the windscreen.
Wheel rims and mag wheels
Restoration of the vehicle’s wheel rims or mag wheels if they sustain scratches, stone chips, or paint defects. Replacement of wheel rims or mag wheels is excluded.
How do I pay?
You have the following options to pay for RenewTech
- Monthly (you can only buy this option via our call centre)
- Upfront payment (added to your finance agreement)
- You can purchase RenewTech through approved dealerships (upfront only) or via our national call centre.
The fine print
- Maintenance and restoration benefits are only available within the borders of the Republic of South Africa
- Duration of plan:
- Monthly plans run continually
- Upfront plans run for a set period of time, depending on the the option selected at time of purchase (36 or 48 months)
- Plans start from the date you purchase the Plan and after we have received the full fee for upfront plans or the first fee for monthly plans.
- This plan only applies to you and your car. It may not be changed to a new owner or any other car
- If you do not claim any maintenance and restoration services within a 2 year period, you will be entitled to:
- one paintwork treatment*, or
- one air conditioner regassing*.
* These bonus services must be requested within 30 days after the end of the plan.
Eligible vehicles:
This plan is only available for passenger vehicles, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles with a maximum gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 3 500 kg.
Cover is not available for:
Vehicles used for any sort or form of transporting people for a reward, hired vehicles, rebuilt vehicles (Code 3), and vehicles that are, or have been, used in any form of motoring competitions, motorcycles, caravans, trailers, and canopies.
You are not covered for:
- Any claims for maintenance and restoration benefits made prior to the start date of the Plan or after termination, cancellation, expiry or lapsing of the Plan
- Mechanical breakdown or electrical failure or breakage
- Repairs requiring stripping or assembling parts or any bodywork that does not expressly fall within the scope of maintenance and restoration benefits provided
- Repairs and replacement of cracked, ripped, or torn panels
- Damages to or caused by any stickers, artwork, and vehicle branding
- Any maintenance and restoration service requiring the replacement of a body panel or part thereof
- Gradually developing causes such as rusting, fading, peeling of paint, cracked, or faded paintwork, or any gradually developing cause.
